For one of the projects, we have 8 tanks of dilute HCl and common vent line is connected to Scrubber.

The tanks are of FRP . I have few questions regarding this system:

1. Common vent line is connected to Scrubber which will take care of outbreathing as well as thermal outbreathing.

2. For inbreathing, we may need to provide vacuum port on individual tanks to breathe air in case of tanks going under vacuum (set points need to be much lower being FRP tanks)

3. Scrubber will have blower which will create slight vacuum in the tanks and hence i am afraid we will be ending up with sucking air from breather valve and venting it to Scrubber.

4. It would have been metal tanks, we would have gone with individual or common PVRV to vent at certain pressure and breathe air under vaccuum conditions on individual tanks or even common header. FRP tanks have their own challenges of lower flexibility on design pressure both pressure as well as vacuum side.

Can anyone throw some light on the same?

hi,

Consider the literature attached : https://www.oxy.com/...id_handbook.pdf

I don't understand the point 3 ,what is the issue?

You need to provide a PVRV on each tank to protect them from over pressure and vacuum .

Good luck
