I currently project a pneumatic ash transportation system for fly ash from a biomass incineraton (woodchips, pellets, miscanthus) the client requested atex zones for the ash transport and silo.

How would you tackle this? Are there any data banks to check explosibility for certain type of ashes? Do we need to send the ashes to a lab to test the properties?

Hi,

I don't know if you can read French  , it's about dust explosion .Document is attached.

Note : If you use N2 to transport the solid you are safe .

Rq : You may need to find a lab able to perform dust explosion analysis (Pmax ,Kst, MIE).

Edit :  Get a copy of :Dust explosion in the Process  industries by Rolf K Eckhoff

Hope this is helping you

Check NFPA 61, 652, and 654 for data, since ash is probably a known quantity in terms of industrial application - you can view each for free with an account on NFPA's website.

You can also see if there's data here: https://www.dguv.de/...ank/index-2.jsp
