I am trying to specify a stream in Aspen HYSYS, the stream is just a pure component (more specifically Methyl Cellosolve or 2-Methoxyethanol). I give the specifications for temperature: 78.25C, pressure: 1 atm and 0 cap. fraction. I specify the molar flow and it still displays unknown flow rate. Why is that?

Thanks for your time

I think your stream is over-specified. specify either of the two variables and the molar flow of the component.

If its overspecified you should get a consistency error

Hi Vlceng,

No need to specify vapour fraction, unless you need Saturation Pressure or Temperature.

Specify Temperature 78.25 deg C and Pressure 1 atm.

Enter composition molefraction =1

Enter molar flowrate.

Check Solver condition. Is it On-Hold or Active. If its On-Hold, change to Active.

I hope now you will get solved stream.
