Hello everyone,

I hope you are doing well. I need suggestions and pointers for the project that I am doing for the extraction of aromatics from a mixed HC feed. I plan to use the sulfolane process designed by UoP. I understand that I have to use 1. an Extractive distillation column to separate aromatics from non-aromatics using sulfolane solvent 2. Wash column to separate heavy aliphatic from the aromatics and solvent rich stream, and finally 3. A solvent recovery system, that would separate sulfolane solvent from the aromatics stream. It is at this stage (no 3) that I am facing problems).

I read a lot in the literature about possible ways to do this separation. Options include vacuum and steam distillation. I tried to do a steam distillation by selecting Extract column (from Aspen Plus) and put steam to do the separation. But it is not helping. Could anyone please suggest some help in this direction?

I would be grateful for the help.

Thanks,

Geetanjali

I find a lot of details about the separation column conditions here: https://commons.und....&context=theses

Is this document included in your literature search?
