Conceptually during process design development, material of piping and equipment are selected based on process fluid.

Within instrument datasheet (e.g. control valve), corrosive and erosive agent should be specified with corresponding concentration.

Some fluids are know to be corrosive. However, most of them need some environment to act as corrosive agent.

Also after proper material selection, a given fluid may not corrosive any more.

Based on above general statement, I need to know policy for introduction of corrosive agent for instrument datasheet.

Using material of base process line (class) which is compatible with process fluid, conceptually we have not any corrosive agent.

I guess some type of instruments need special attention for this issue, where I need your experience about it.

I put information like this on instrument spec sheet even when I suspect it probably will not affect the instrument selection. After I tell all I know, then it is then the responsibility of the instrument engineer to deal with and I get no blame for any subsequent failures.
