If a nitrogen blanket on your storage tank is important, then it needs an instrument to indicate if it is actually functioning as intended. If an operator should be notified when the nitrogen pressure is low, then an alarm is needed. What is the alternative? Why would you need a standard to say this?

Hi,
This is based on your judgment , I've witnessed a storage tank collapsing because of lack of Nitrogen supply . It was a phenol tank !
Should be evaluated during Hazop study.

You can see API 2000 ANNEX-F where it provides clarity on what credit we take for instrumentation for deciding the N2 blanketing requirement.
I agree with other comments provided by experts that there wont be any standard / code dictating such requirements. It will come out of HAZOP study anyway depending upon the risk involved!
I heard some people saying Storage Tank which have Nitrogen Blanketing require low pressure alarm at nitrogen line in order to alarm when nitrogen pressure is low, But I cannot find any standard saying this? Can anyone help me indicate which standard say this requirement? Thank you
