I'm a new engineer first year out of college. I'm trying to solve an issue and my direct supervisor is not accessible to assist till later next week.
I have a liquid level gauge/gauge glass that are too large for the vessel they are intended to be used for. Both pieces, the vessel and the level gauge are both already on site.
The level gauge is 36" center to center and it should only be 18". To use the current 36" gauge we would be running pipe through vessel skid and about 1-2" of the bottom of the level gauge would be underground :/
Can the gauge glass be trimmed to accommodate the shorter length?
Are there any other solutions aside from re-ordering or blind flanging the connections and going without the level gauge?
Thanks for your help,
