Amine System Filtration

I am currently having high dP in the charcoal filter used in the lean amine system. Replacing the filter will required around a month. Can I start cleaning it through steaming out with MPS?

HI,
Consider the paper attached to support your work.
What you call "charcoal" should be activated carbon right?
You may save time to replace the AC and ask vendor to regenerate it for you as part of their proposal ( Supply new AC and regenerate the old one ) .

The question is not clear to me. Are you wanting to take the carbon filter off line for one month and begin the cleanup process by steaming it? Or do you plan to steam the carbon bed for a short time to try to reduce pressure drop and then put it back into service until the turnaround? Running without an effective carbon filter will increase the likelihood of foaming in the system.

Hello,
We have Activated Carbon bed that had same high delta P problem. We used to isolate and flush it with cold condensate till clear water. It worked well for us. It takes about 24 hours to flushed it back to back by Fill & Drain several times then performing continuous forward flushing. Backward flushing is not recommended as it may disturb the carbon bed. You can use steam/CC mixed to supply CC at ~80 C to make this flushing more effective. In our case, the system worked normal with clear amine.
