I am new to Hysys (day 3) and have a question for the group.

The pipeline group asked to verify quantities associated with launching/receiving a pipeline pig as well as other maintenance activities at a remote site (pump, meter etc).  I thought with HYSYS a generic template could be created and used at all remote sites with adjustments to the components.

I arranged my model with a PCV at the launcher/receiver to show the 1400 dp. This was the only way I could come up with showing part of the system with zero pressure.

Piped it to the KO Drum with 2 outlets.

For The liquid outlet I added another PCV with 0% opening to block flow.  The drum will be evacuated with a truck and is not tied to a closed drain system.

I have not yet figured out where to get a closed block valve.

Ran the simulation for the estimated time duration figured on separate excel sheet.

It was able to produce a volume in the drum pretty close to what we figured by hand.

Question is what is the proper way to do this in hysys?

I tried the Blowdown and depressure utilities.  I am sure with more time this is the appropriate method.

The question I have with it is the "vessel" it brings up and how it fits into the system.

Product is Y-Grade
