hi,

I wanted to clear my doubt on vent area calculation equation. I refer ludwig process engineering book for vent size calculation. There are two different equation for mass flow rate ( lb/hr)  and volumetric flow ( SCFM) for calculation of vent size. can any one tell why there are two equation ?

Can i convert Volumetric flow rate in mass flow rate and use the equation vice versa ?

You should be able to convert one equation into the other. Try it.

Yes you should , just pay attention of the definition of standard condition.

Edit :

To validate your work consider the document attached .

Good luck

Both the equations should give you the same result. As it is a vent the preferred unit for flowrate is SCFM or Nm3/hr that too of air.

Be very careful about the units.
