Dear All.

I have to design the spreaders ( sort of spargers) for curde oil distribution in storage tank (which is being used for the purpose of Oil/Water separation). This spreaders are basically used for the purpose of uniform distribution of crude across the tank area (Tank diameter - 120'). Also, the collector spreaders are used for draw-off of seperated Oil from top level and water from bottom level. Collecotrs are also similar to spreader but flow of fluid is in opposite direction.

But in existing tanks, we are finding a lot of back pressure!!! We are unable to quantify the back pressure and also what would be the optimum hole size and quantity to be provided for given flow and given fluid properties.

I request all my friends in this forum to help to find the proper technical information on which I can develop the design module for sizing pipe size, hole size and no. of holes to avoid back pressure.

Looking forward to valuable suggestions from you guys.

Thanks,
