I have Chinese valves where from nameplate I can get Cv @100% open & that its Equal%.

Now I generated a spreadsheet model which is fairly simple & then used 'Goal Seek' feature to iterate values such that I get stated Cv at 100% opening.

I am uploading procedure that I followed (this document also has a small video file)
I am also attaching spreadsheet file as well.

Chemical Engineering June 1997 article by Ron Darby is the source of that spreadsheet. I do not have a copy of the journal article, but I have a copy of a book Darby wrote 'Chemical Engineering Fluid Mechanics' which maybe some day I will go back and read.

Breizh, the spreadsheet looks to be your work and seems to go much further than the Darby article. There are many hours of development in the spreadsheet and will deserve many hours into understanding its features. Thank you.

Hi Pilesar,

Yes, this is my work like most of the spreadsheets I shared in this forum. It was a time where Chemical engineering magazine was the unique source of information, before internet.

@ breizh, Pilesar

Friends I am not selecting a valve, the valve already is there. I am in rating mode you can say. So I just want to know that is my generated curve from nameplate information is OK. Because I want to know at say 40% what amount of Cl2 this valve can throughput

Hi,

Pay attention that valve is one component of your system. You need to assess the entire system (piping, fittings...).

The valve should operate within the 50-70% range for good control.
