Hi
I am very fresh in this oil and gas industry. Does any one know how to deal with high temperature-low temperature interface? upstream piping is desiged at -29 degc which is tie-in to flare piping which is design for -160 degc. there is one check valve which is installed on -160 degc section just after the spec break. is one check valve enough?

Evaluate the system since there is not a simple shortcut. Is there a legitimate scenario where piping is at risk of brittle failure due to cold metal temperature? Assess whether the piping is fit for the service. ASME B31.3 includes plots correlating minimum design metal temperature and pipe stress. An experienced mechanical engineer might provide useful guidance on how to interpret fitness for service.
