I have a project to design heating coil for HFO Storage Tank.

 

Based on the heat loss calculation, I calculated the required low pressure steam.

 

Now I need to arrange the coil properly (1 layer / 2 layers? or 1 long coil or seperate into shorter coils? or something like that?) in order to ensure the heat transfer effectively.

 

Can anyone help me if there's handbook or reference that I need to refer?

 

Besides that, If you have any realiable reference for heating coil calculation template / handbook. I am really appreciated it if you share with me.

A good start will be Perry's chemical engineers' handbook. They have a section about coil.

The heating coil configuration I want to design as the picture below. I'm so sorry because I can not share the exactly concept but the idea design is something like that.

 

Do you have any reference / standard for design this heating coil configuration? I need to know how to arrange the coil for the most effective heat transfer. (Because I think the pressure drop will affect to heat transfer; at the same the total length of coil, but heat transfer of a long coil may be lower than shorter coils).
