I have an extract tower facility to extract triethyl phosphate with toluene solvent, in a ceramic packing tower type, at a temperature of 20 C, 1 Bar,

How is a simple method to calculate the performance of the extract tower? I want to increase the extract yield so that the raffinate is purer. Is there any need for other facilities?

Cocurent type, feed 6 m3/h, solvent 10 m3/h, raffinate about 3 m3/h.

Thanks for your attention

Note: i don t know the number of stage but I guess it is 3 stages.

Hi,

Difficult to support with so little information. No data about the partition coefficient of your system.

A good start is to increase the solvent flowrate and observe the quality. At the same time observe the hydraulic of the column. this could be the bottleneck, flooding.

Pay also attention to the equipment downstream, will they accept an increase of solvent?

Google Kremser equation for your set up.

Note: are you sure it's not counter current?

Good luck
