Hi

generally, in drain line, A globe valve located at 600 mm minimum from the block valve to avoid the freezing of the globe due to the low metal temperature,

i want to know why 600 mm?  Please clarify about the reference of 600 mm and why this  distance is mentioned generally as the minimum.

Engineering practice. The value differs between companies.

If that valve is quite critical, you can perform an energy balance to determine the minimum expected temperature of that valve.

thanks DAC

Please explain a little more about how to calculate the real distance with Hysys?

Please explain a little more about how to calculate

Hi Breizh

Thank you, but still did not receive a suitable answer regarding how to calculate this distance.

I believe the resulting temperature from the isenthalpic expansion process of the first valve is what Dacs meant.  No one but you mentioned calculating the real distance.  I'm not sure if that is meaningful.  Can you explain?  If the minimum expected temperature is within the globe valves specs, then it's okay.  If not, put a heat exchanger in between?

Hi,

Share with us information about your product and operation condition.

What is your issue with the minimum distance between valves?

It's always case by case answer.

More info better answer.

I just wanted to understand the reason for considering at least 600mm as practice.

This concept considered in manifolds for drain connections.

I recommend you inquire in your company's group that supports this engineering practice.
