Hello everyone,

I am a chemical engineering student currently in an internship with a company in air gases market.
My mission is to troubleshoot and design a new Direct Contact After Cooler (DCAC) for Air Separation Unit.
In effect a hot air stream is being cooled directly using cooled water.

I want to ask if anyone can help me with needed steps how to design the structured packing column; Equations or available papers for public, identitcal work made before or anything can help

and if I have HETP how can I calculate the number of stages to make a simulation in aspen+ or hysys

The attached pdf made by Koch Glitsch contains informations about different packings

the used structured packing will be : Packing from Koch Glitsch : FLEXIPAC 2Y STRUCTURED PACKING IN POLYPROPYLENE OR FLEXIPAC 500Z HC STRUCTURED PACKING IN PFA

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Get a copy of Perry's chemical engineers' handbook to support your work.

Check at your Uni or in the facility where you are currently working.

I'm sorry, I did not realize initially that an attachment was missing.  To supplement what breizh wrote, below is a copy of what I just told another community member.

If you edit one of your posts to add the PFD, click "More Reply Options", or if you start a new post to add the PDF, click "Use Full Editor".  Either way, then look under the text box.  The file attaching functionality is under the text box.
