 Hi every body,

I’d like your opinion on sizing an air vent for an atmospheric tank that is CIP-cleaned with alkaline at 80 °C, followed by a pre-rinse with water at

14 °C. I tried to calculate it, but the required air-vent size seems very large.

Known data

  • Tank internal diameter: 2 m

  • Height: 3 m

  • Thickness: 2.5 mm

  • Cold spray (rinse) flow rate: 7.2 kg/s

  • Rinse water temperature: 14 °C

I used the Cold-Spray Condensation (Enthalpy) method. I suspect the result is large because the tank is a thin-walled storage tank without stiffeners and the maximum allowable vacuum (MAV) is low. I’m not sure what I’m missing.
Any advice would be appreciated

API 2000 should be your guide.

Why so cold water? tempered water should be better.
