This is directed at anyone that has illegal or pirated engineering software and believes that he/she can use engineering Forums as a tool to obtain copies of the necessary software instructions or manuals and proceed to exploit the use of illegally obtained software. To do so is not only illegal and morally wrong but it is also an insult to those of us professional engineers who have a sense of professional responsibility and a claim to respect from our peers around the world.
How can we maintain a feeling of mutual respect for each other when we seek or tolerate the stealing of intellectual property from others? I believe it is not only improper to tolerate stealing, it is also insulting when done openly in front of professionals who have an ethical career to protect.
If any engineer or engineering student is in need of instructions or technical help and assistance on using the engineering software that he/she obtains or purchases legally, then the owner/seller of the legal software should be consulted for such aid or help. All the software companies that I have dealt and consulted with have vowed and asserted that they are ready to help and train their customers who purchase their software. There is no logical reason or purpose to request copy righted documents from other software users if the person requesting is a licensed owner of the software.
I come to these Forums to help other engineers - especially engineering students - help themselves and society by learning how to resolve problems better for the benefit of our societies. I will not do it in order to help others steal from society and from their fellow engineers. That's cheating; that's wrong; and that is corrupt. That is NOT what engineering is about.

Good Morning ;
Art I agree with your opinion,its all about ethics.
Javan, if you contact ASPEN TECH support center at ( http://support.aspentech.com) they will be able to provide you with good information, register and they will answer lots of questions related to there softwares. Better than asking for illegal copies.

Ok Art. I didn't read most of that rambling. It would be a waste of my time, and I'm surprised you wasted so much of yours. I'll get right to the point. The Flarenet Reference manual is widely available along with other guides. Here is one of many handy websites. http://webwormcpt.bl...a-flarenet.html
Not everyone looking for a manual is a thief. I'll try to be quick about my second point. I think your error is being easily pleased with yourself. You think by some how jumping to the conclusion that someone else is being less ethical than you, you become more important/justified in your self worth. If you really want to spend hard time on ethics. Do good for others when no one is looking. Put others first despite slighting your image. And first and foremost, do your research before insulting someone. I get to many emails from people of your political affiliation that never even take 2 seconds to google the facts before hitting fwd. Rambling off.....

What is your point, bamboo? Are you saying that LEGAL copies of this documentation are widely available? Are you claiming that the site you reference is able to LEGALLY distribute this document that ias owned by ASPEN? I honestly don't know enough about copyright law to know whether or not this offer for documentation is legal, though I do know that my socks would fall off if it were so. So please make your point - You mean that readers can legally and ethically view this documentation OR you mean that here's a place where you can steal the property of Aspen.

Pushing aside the ethical debate for a moment here (even though coming here and asking for it IS suspicious, particularly since all you have to do to get it, online, is...)
Go to support.aspentech.com, register, and everything you could possibly ever want for AFSA/Flarenet, including documentation, patches, tutorials, and whatever else Aspen may have ever published is all right there, even for past versions. If you have a valid copy of the SW, this should be all you ever need...
