Dear All,
I need some general instructions or guidelines regarding to P&IDs specially in terms of control and instrumentation.
Chemical engineering students have some process control courses in their educational years but I belive that those cources are not enough for them to work with P&IDs.
P&IDs contain process control concepts including DCS and PLC and etc that are far differenet from basic concepts of process control.
So I want to request from experienced engineers that if possible share any useful document or guideline inm this field.
Thanks in advance.
Kindest Regards.

Most training in this very important aspect of engineering seems to be "on the job". I have NEVER heard of a university course that deals with P&ID development (or even practical process instrumentation & control). The closest you are likely to come will be if you can find a university that offers technology rather than or in addition to engineering programs. You may find industrial training seminars or short courses that deal with these very practical topics, but even they will be hard to come by (and expensive). The vendors of your control equipment may offer training courses or manuals that would be useful, though pretty focused on their products.
Good luck,
Doug
