HI all

I am facing a problem regarding the simulation of delayed coking unit in hysys 3.2. i am not able figure it out how can we add these units into the hysys system along with kinetic model for the system.

can anyone help in this regard.

hi,

what are you trying to do actually? simulate the drum, column, ...?

most imprtantly what is your background ?

cheers,

Hey,

i am trying to simulate the drum, actually u can simulate the column as it is quite easy...as most of the kinetic model goes with reactor only..so thats the only problem....

basically i am chemical engineering post grad....what bout u...dude...and have u faced with this sort of things...

cheers

Hi,

i simulated a visbreaker but using a KBC profimatics software. i belive they have coker and other models, they are expensive.

the issue here is how to do the kinetics for the sedos out of the distillation curves. you can write a code for conversion of the heavy materials to coke and ligher oils but this is entinerly empirical and usually based on exsisting units.

i know that the cracking reactions are first order but what about the activation energy of the sedos, the nature of the oil also plays an imprtant role, parafinic or aromatic based crudes are not the same.

i did not perform such a task myself prehaps others might be of more help,

regards,

sm

I know its been three years but.. did you ever figure it out?
I have basically the same project. Completely lost.

Thanks

Shubh
