Dear All,
In this topic I decide to invite all of you to discuss about the major points which are to be taken into account for plot plan review. Some of these points can be:
1.Equipment layout shall be along the flows on the process flow diagram.
2.The fractionators and its reboilers, condensers and overhead receivers shall be collectively located.
3.Air coolers shall be located so that no heated air may be recirculated.
4.Pumps shall be located near the suction surge drums or towers specially for flashing liquid.
5.Compressor suction drums shall be located close to relevant compressors.
6.Fuel gas K.O. drums shall be located close to fired heaters and gas turbines.
7.Equipment arrangement shall indicate minimum piping to the equipment.
8.Access for operation and maintenance shall be foreseen.
9.Name, tag No. and type (horizontal and vertical) of equipments shall be according to equipment list and PFD.
10.The process requirements as indicated in P&ID shall be followed.
11.Gravity flow lines shall be with minimum length.
What are other important points?
Your valuable comments are appreciated. rolleyes.gif

Dear,
Addition to above
1.No equipments should be place below pipe racks except pumps and that to if the layout constraint is there.
2.Location of the fired heaters should be upwind/upstream of the remianing process plant area (based on the wind direction)
3.Process area should be at a higher elevation than the storage tank/day tank area.
4.All garvity flow lines should be no pocket and free draining.(Addition to your point number 11.)
5.Try to put the equipments at grade which are prone to maint.
6.Chemicals handling/solution preparation area should be located seperately.
7.As per safety norms the eye washers and safety showers should be located near chemcial handling area.
8.Location of ID/FD fans/air compressors should such that HC should not ingress.
9.Drop-out space for the towers should be enough to handle the tower internals.
10.Heavy Equipments like turbines/compressors should be located near roads to pull out easily for maint purpose.

Just waitng for more information form other members.

JProcess:

I am surprised and interested in finding out why you have not mentioned any safety or hazards involved in deciding industrial processing plants' layout requirements - such as Padmakar S Katre has outlined in his comments. Is it that you have no priorities in the safety aspects or potential hazards presented in a flawed equipment layout or planning? I hope not.

Do you just want economic or convenience factors to be considered? Please be specific in your request for needs.
