Dear friends / colleagues,

Our company wants to buy a software for technical services department.

we have almost all the unit operations / process like distillation, drying, chilling, cooling, absorption, dilution, homogeneous and hetrogeneous reactions, etc

Our company is also going for brown field as well as green field expansion .

for our project activities like equipment sizing, rating, etc we need a chemical engineering software.

pls advise us on which software to buy ?

Kindly give your suggestions / advises.

If you are inquiring about process simulation software, there are many on the market. Ther are some that are very specific to any industry such as pharmaceutical and oil & gas whereas some can be applied for general applications. In my opinion and through my research, ChemCAD would be my number 1 choice. If you guys have a lot of Distillation applications and you want to model the most complex of columns then I would say go with Aspen Plus. With Aspen Plus , your pockets have ti be deep too. It is a very expsnive software. There are other such as ProSim, WINSIM and Design II that might also work for you but I tend to lean more towards ChemCAD.

Altough I'm working in environmental field I used to work alot with process simulators in my graduation area. Purpose of my diploma work was to discover why sometimes differences in results arrive when simulating same process. I used to work extensivly with Aspen Plus, Hysys and chemcad. In the end I would say that for me Apen Plus is definitly the best one, followed tightly by Hysys. Chemcad is good as well, but compared to functionality of Aspen it doesn't really offer anything new. I was also very impressed with Hysys as well, so for me these two are both top notch. Both of them are owned by Aspentech and are expencive as hell ...
