Will you please explain the difference between shut down valve & shut off valve & mention
their working principle.
Please mention the area of application of both the valves.
Thanks

Done see big differences between them...i guess

Shutdown valve - proper isolation in case of emergency...read more on 12 Features required for Shutdown Valve (SDV)
Shut-off valve - operational on-off valve ?! Could be same as SDV.

Please provides entire wording or complete sentences to understand the context behind these words...

They are probably the same thing.
The way you've worded it though, I'd assume a shut down valve is something that, when opened or closed, will effectively shut down something - eg a globe valve or a butterfly valve on a feed line.
A shut off valve would likely be triggered by an alarm and shut-off a flow in or out from part of your plant.
