... a process control system is a (computer) system that controls industrial processes (you could have guessed that).

A PCS can be a DCS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distributed_control_system) or a SCADA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCADA). In my experience, the acronyms PCS and DCS can be used interchangeably.
