Hi, I would like to ask for a little help here.

I have a little difficulty on researching on the designing of high temperature and low temperature shift reactor (HTS and LTS) for the production of hydrogen gas using steam reforming path.
It involves the reactor sizing and more, but for now, I would like to have some good information on such my research on these designs.

Look up an article by JM Moe called "Design of Water-gas Shift Reactors." You should be able to figure out everything you need to know from there.

I think the correct and full reference to the mentioned publication is:

J. M. Moe; "Design of water Gas Shift Reactors"; Chemical Engineering Progress magazine; 58:33{36, 1962.

without this full reference, you would be spending a bunch of hours looking needlessly.

I hope this puts you on the straight path to what you are looking for.

Hi,

I'm also doing the design of the Low Temperature Shift Converter for a hydrogen plant project. The intended conversion reaction is CO + H2O → CO2 + H2.

Regarding the design, I have some questions.
(1) I am most probably using the conventional Cu/ZnO catalyst for my reactor. Am I supposed to get
the rate equations from the catalyst vendor? I have been searching through the catalyst
companies’ website but they do not actually publish this info on their webpage. What should I do?
(2) The reactor type I am using for this design project is the fixed-bed catalyst reactor. Is it true that
I can utilize the plug-flow design equations for my design?
(3) As for the article by J. M. Moe mentioned above, I cannot find it in my university library too.
Could I request anyone to attach the softcopy of the paper to your post so that I can have access
to it?
