Dear all,
i faced the problem in caculation of tubsheet thickness calculation for shell and tube heat exchanger.
without this calculation i m unable to fix my thickness in drawing.
can anybody tell me the procedure of thickness calculation.
please help me

I assume you are in the S&T heat exchanger manufacturing business. If not, I cannot see any reason for you to calculate tubesheet thickness, which I believe is typically determined based on fabrication considerations.

If you are in the HX business, then how could you not have available professional heat exchanger design software? You need to get HTRI or other software that will enable you (presumably) to correctly and error-free perform the design calculations needed. Doing otherwise, in my opinion, is reckless at best. It would involve the proverbial "reinventing the wheel" and would be a time consuming and error-prone process. Do the right thing and get the software, or hire a knowledgable consultant to do the design for you.

Doug is absolutely correct in my opinion.

If you are academically interested in knowing how the tubesheet is calculated, you require a copy of the TEMA Standards, where you will find a complete explanation in Section RCB-7, "Tubesheets".

I have designed and built tubesheets according to this procedure - using a slide rule. However, that was then, and in a very under-developed location. Today, I would use HTRI. Why re-invent the egg?

May be you will get tubesheet thickness formula in local standards applicable.
