How to find the required head of a centrifugal pumps which have a huge number of parallel consumers like Potable water supply pump. In my case the total consumers are thirty ! the general method which I was following was to find the longest route from pump discharge header which have the largest pressure drop but as the flow & line sizes are changing due to large number of consumers in between it is becoming an awfully tedious exercise. Can anyone suggest a quicker method ?

Pressure drop along the line (any branch) can be fixed by the unit pressure drop criteria i.e. 2 bar/km. Thus for main header and branches will expect consistent unit pressure drop. Note : sometime the main header and branch may have different unit pressure drop criteria.
Find the distance for furthest user (i.e. 200m), time the targeted unit pressure drop (i.e. 2 bar/km), you will get the pressure required at the pump discharge.
Once you have fix first round all the pressure profile, it can be further optimized.
Above is just one of the fastest way to fix pressure profile and pump head.

... or use dedicated software such as Pipenet standard module (see http://www.sunrise-s...dard_module.asp ) or FluidFlow ( http://www.fluidflow...w/FluidFlow.asp )
