I'm studying Acid gas sweetening process using HYSYS process simulation. But I don't have Amines property package so I try to use PRSV package which has amine components. I found the problem about Absorber column with 20 stages when I ran the process, it was unconverged and warning "Two liquid phases were found in the absorber column on all stages" . What should I do, please help.

Dear,
Its quite strange to know that your Hysys doesn't have the conventional amine package which is used for amine sweetening simulation. Report to Aspen tech the issue as no any other fluid package is going to work in your case except the amine package.

i think it shouldnot be the fluid properity problem.
i have ever heard from an experience person that the Hysis cannot predict the interproperties between both fluid good enough. Normally, the Acid gas sweetening by Amine need the experiment result to be a guide for simulation.

Agree with devilchicken. Unconverged does not really cause the different Thermodynamic package.

Do you have liquid and aqueous phase at the inlet to column ?

Normally there is KO drum to knock out HC flash gas prior feed into amine column.

I would say that usual application would be to have even gas coalescing filter prior Amine Contactor.
Remember that sweetening systems mainly work on higher pressures, meaning possibly at compressors discharge and these coalescers may serve quite well to eliminate jeopardy of amine fouling when contact gas with impurities such as lube oil, or HC liquid phase.

I've never tried it, but I believe no absorption takes place if different fluid package is used. I also remember simulating caustic scrubber by using PR/SRK - without any results.

I'm not sure if two liquid phases can occur across the tower if lean amine temperature is too low, compared to the inlet sour gas.
