Kindly intimate if any IEC or NFPA standard exists which mentions that provision of Automatic fire suppression system is a mandatory requirement for electrical facilities like switch gear room or motor control centers.

These automatic fire suppression systems use Inergen or CO2 to extinguish the fires.

Thanks,

Omar,

Yes Even NFPA has a complete code list NFPA 2001 for clean agent suppression systems like for instance in a switch gear room or any electrical room there is a " C " class fire which can be extinguished by Clean agents like FM 200,Pro inert,CO2 etc depending on the human occupancy of the place.

Thanks for your reply.

NFPA does has a standard regarding fire suppression system but my question is that does any NFPA standard mentions that an automatic fire suppression system (Inergen, CO2, etc) is mandatory for an electrical installation like Switch gear room, etc.

Thanks,

Omar
