Hi All,
I'm working on an offshore platform and on some of our wells, it was noticed that certain annuli were showing zero pressure at the surface pressure gauge. When attempting to perform flow tests on these annuli it was confirmed that some of them were actually under vacuum. This situatuion introduced the following potential risks:
- Collapse/burst of casing
- Metal corrosion due to oxygen introduced into the annulus
- Inability to accurately monitor annulus pressure
In order to ensure proper monitoring of the annuli pressures as well as minimize all vacuum related risks, annuli need to be filled with inhibited (injection) seawater and pressurized to approximately 5 barg.
I was wondering if anyone else has faced this problem in the past and could share experience and knowledge.
Thanks.
