Hi All,
Recently, my double acting reciprocating air compressor was down

. Upon dismantling, it is found that the carbon piston rings as well as the guide rings were broken. Further I have found some rusts at the cross head. Thus I suspect there are water leakage from the cooling water passage to the compression chamber through the gasket of the cylinder head.
My question is, what is the effect if there is water present in the compression chamber? I am thinking that it may have some effect since water is incompressible.
Really appreciate your opinion on this.
