Dear Members,
I am involved in sizing of a choke valve which drops the pressure (from 170 barg to 15 barg). The fluid upstream of the valve is a supercritical fluid (well above the critical point in the phase envelope). Can I assume compressible gas conditions/equations for sizing the valve? A supercritical fluid by nature is classified as "dense phase" i.e neither gas or liquid in its definition and the valve equations for sizing using a compressible gas flow might not fully be justified. Does anybody know if there is a special sizing methodology for sizing valves under supercritical conditions?
Cheers,
Sanky
