I need some material on molecular sieve simulation.
How can I do it in Hysys?

Regards.

Hi Vítor

I don't think Hysys can run the simulation of molecular sieve. But if u have some data of molecular-sieve experiments, maybe u could use a simple separator to represent ur molecular sieve.

May consider SPLITTER.

Dear Vitor:

Still the answer to your question depends on the purpose of your study.
Molecular sieve is widely used in oil and gas industry for absorption of water and other chemical substances. Normally the performance of molecular sieve can be provided by the vendor, and the expectation of molecular sieve performance is decided by the designer.
If you want to study the lifespan of molecular sieve, or hole size effect, etc., it can't be done in Hysys. It is better to ask for help from vendor.
But if you just want to simulate the function of absorption of molecular sieve, simply the component splitter is enough in steady state in Hysys.
If considering the residence time of molecular sieve drum, or desorption or absorption of molecular sieve drum, or the testing the control system around molecular sieve drum section, separator module can be used for molecular sieve drum simulation and dynamic model of Hysys is required.
I have some experience of simulating the molecular sieve drum in fuel gas system with dynamic model of Hysys, if necessary, i would like to share my knowledge with you.

Cheers,
P.Wang

My suggestion is using aspentech another software which foucs on adsorption, it like Aspen custom model, may be named as Aspen Adsorption, you can find some introduction from internet.

Best wish.

hi, ive calculated several adsortion properties by hand what should i introduce to the separator so i could represent it in the simulation ..

The quickest way is not to use a separator but a Splitter operation, like JoeWong said.

I appreciate your help.
I already have a mole sieve model, but I wasn't understanding how it's done.
Now I know.

Thanks.
