I am in the process of designing a Falling Film Evaporator to concentrate sugar solutions.
I am reading conflicting information concerning the minimum wetting rate and other design condiderations.
Doe anyone has a good source in order to find information concerning these issues?

Evaporation wetting rate is decided based on the fluid characteristics like Viscosity , Density and surface tension etc . Wetting rate affects tube side Heat transfer coeficient and pressure drop drastically.

In industry, this information is proprietary so that people use experimental data for design purpose.

Some information is available in journals by paying some amount. http://cat.inist.fr/...cpsidt=18449857

You will find good information about sugar concentration at www.sugartech.co.za site.

Hope this information will help you
