Hi to Everyone,

I am new to this forum and i am very much thankful to all the professionals those are sharing their ideas and experiences on this subject.

Actually i am new to process simulation software's and now i am learning HYSYS and working with Hysys Tutorial , i have a doubt regarding my simulation for unit and entire plant

I have run the simulation for a LTS Separator and after that when i open the workbook i have seen the material streams, energy streams and compositions, my questions: Is these streams are nothing but mass and heat balance with component balances as well or do i need to go for the balance unit operation to solve mass heat balance for the unit and also for the whole plant. Please tell me whether i am right or absolutely wrong.

Onemore question is that can we prepare the pump datasheets using hysys

Could you please clarify mu doubts and thanks in advance for your valuable suggestions

Thanks & Regards

Ram

If you have your flowsheet fully converged (all material streams in dark blue color), it means that heat and material balances are solved, and there's no need for additional/parallel operations.

Regarding the pump datasheet: you can extract physical/process parameters from HYSYS, but the remainder of data (NPSHa, friction losses in the suction line, suction vessel elevation etc.) must be calculated and supplied by you.

Dear Zauberberg,

Many thanks for the reply regarding materiel streams

Regarding the pump datasheet: I have seen the results in pump performance tab which gives total head, pressure head, can i use these values for the datasheets preparation and please tell me how can i draw pump performance curve in Hysys

Thanks again for your valuable reply

Regards

Ram,

The pump performance curve will be supplied from the pump manufacturer, once when you furnish all the details required as inputs to the pump vendor. Your part is to accurately define pump minimum, normal, and maximum flow, required discharge pressure (by taking into account all hydraulic details upstream and downstream of the pump), and other data which I have mentioned in my previous post.

Art Montemayor had posted some time ago an Excel workbook containing generic equipment datasheets where he showed how they should be filled. Try using ChE forum search engine, and I hope you'll find his excellent materials.

Best regards,
