Egunjobi & RAMANA RAO:

You is correct. You get what you pay for.

If you are truly interested in obtaining a computer program that resolves a packed column design problem, then I recommend you visit:

http://katmarsoftware.com/pcol.htm

Harvey Wilson, the author of PackCol, has a great and practical program that is very reasonably priced and can do probably all that you will need. It costs approximately US$80.00 - about half the price of a ChE text book.

And you can download a free, trial copy to use and get familiarized with.

There is a free program that is certainly worth your time getting to know. It's called ASCEND IV. It was developed by Art W. at CMU. It's developed for Linux and Windows. It's a very powerful tool for solving material and energy balances. It's FREE. It also works on MacOSX using xgraph, and Xwindows. If you have some specific questions email me.

Sincerely,

Mike Felzien
