Does anyone know where i can get information about "ppump arounds" like books or anything. I want to know exactly how it helps in crude oil distillation.

Hi Clayton,

There's nothing extremely special in the pumparound concept. It is a heat sink, required to remove heat from the CDU tower at (usually) several locations. Heat from the tower is usually transferred to cold crude oil, for the purpose of preheating cold, incoming CDU feed. Pumparounds are required for maintaning CDU tower heat balance.

More information can be found in books by Jones (Elements of petroleum processing), Lieberman (Working guide to process equipment), and Watkins (Petroleum refinery distillation), and also in variety of other books published by McGraw-Hill.
