I'm getting a problem when trying to converge a crude column in HYSYS in that it says there are 2 liquid phases in my first bottom tray. I am using a refluxed absorber to model this. can anyone help me with this

It means you have some amount of condensed stripping steam at the bottom of CDU tower. You can leave it that way, or you can automatically adjust water draw -where necessary. Open the column window, "Parameters" tab, and under the option "2/3 Phase" select "Auto Water Draw". That should solve the problem.
