Guys,

I am planning to calculate enthalpy of mixing between vapor and liquid. The vapor is at higher temperature, say 100 deg C and liquid is at lower temperature, say 15 deg C. The liquid is sitting in the tank and vapor is bubbling through this liquid. I can calculate the temperature rise of the resulting mixture but I have some doubt in computing the enthalpy of mixing. We can assume equilibrium between vapor and liquid and the reaction between vapor and liquid is exothermic.

I appreciate if someone could advice me on the above issue i.e. help me in determining the enthalpy change of the mixture whether it will increase or decrease.

Thanks,
Sam

not sure if I get your question correctly, but imo one can talk about enthalpy of mixing for two liquids and in the case of gas and liquid it refers to heat of absorption... in your case this is absorption with chemical reaction so total heat of absorption includes both processes (abs. and chem. rea.)
