My task is to make generic spreadsheets, for the peformance monitoring of heast exchangers and pumps. The spreadsheets should be versatile/flexible enough to cater to various types of heat exchangers and pumps.

The purpose is to be able to monitor the Overall heat transfer coefficient of heat exchanger to predict fouling/cleaning and to monitor the pump efficiencies.

The data entry format will accomodate both manual and online data. And representation will be graphical on time scale.

Does any of you guys have such a spreadsheet for reference and (with your permission) use? All inputs will be highly appreciated.

I have made such spreadsheet when i was on commissioning, One of our Plate H.E. was not working well and we had to findout where exactly the problem is. But there is nothin so called rigrous calculation, infact by the time to you get that sheet and you understand what others have made in it, it is better you make it by yourself.

You have to make various columns for in/out temeraure of hot and cold stream, one column for flowrates and then make use of simple formula Q = U A deltaT(ln), you must have area of existing h.e. Take various reading in regular intervals and put it in a rows.

For pump performance you must have actualy power consumption or you must have amplere figures for online monitoring of pump efficeinty. Use BKW formulae to find out efficieny by using actual flow and dilivery pressure.

As a professional engineer and i dont think it's that difficult at the same time it is rather intresting when you see actual results.

I agree it is not difficult, just was looking to have a readymade solution to save time. rolleyes.gif Anyway I am already making the sheet. My main concern is to make the graphical representation more attractive, so if there was something readymade it would be welcome as reference.
