Hello everybody, and thanks for stopping by. I am currently involved in a senior design project and have come across a slight problem. I am trying to obtain information about a heat exchanger which is currently in use, but have had no luck in searching for the manufacturer. The exchanger's information plate has the following information:
Built in 1989 by Old Dominion Fabricators, Chester VA
Mfg Serial number 88-223B
User Order # VT 23142
National BD # 48249
First I would like to know if anybody has any information regarding this company; are they still around or have they shut down or been merged/acquired?
Second I would love to know how to contact them in order to inquire about this particular piece of equipment. I am particularly interested in the materials of construction, overall available surface area, and any information regarding the heat transfer coefficient.
Any information regarding this issue of mine would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Strange, the information you are looking for should be readily available in equipment datasheet - regardless of the manufacturer.
Google says that the "Adamson Global Technology Corporation" is some sort of Old Dominion Fabricators' successor. You may want to check at their website: http://www.adamsontank.com/
Good luck,

Krbvt:
Old Dominion was a quality and specialty heat exchanger designer and fabricator for many years. They were known for making quality heat exchangers - especially shell & tube units. The company disappeared some years back; someone likely was smart enough to buy up the technology and, as Zauberberg states, that someone is probably Adamson Global Technology Corporation.
Adamson claims - and I quote: "Duplicates of any units previously supplied by Old Dominion Fabricators are also available". So, if you are in the market for Old Dominion design, they may be able to help you out.

Excellent! Thank you very much for this information. I have contacted Adamson Global Technology and obtained the exchanger specifications - exactly what I needed!
I sincerely appreciate the time and effort taken to respond to my first post on this forum.
