I have been asked today by our sales guy "Is blood corrosive to aluminium".

I imagine the customer would like a road tanker for transporting quantities of blood (hopefully animal blood!).

Does anyone have any idea if aluminium is suitable or where I could check it out?

Thanks

Mike...

I have looked through aqll my chem resistance guides and could not find any that specified blood. However blood is more than half water. The temperature of transport would be quite low. I suspect that there would not be any corrosive materials in the blood so my question would be why not?

A better question is to look at the material of construction of the metal in dialysis machines and syringes for medical applications.
