Hi...
I have several questions regarding multistage compressor, hopefully you can advise me on these:

1. under what circumstances an oil film seal must definitely be used?

2. what is the purpose of the overhead tank in a compressor seal oil system?

3. how to disassemble and assemble journal bearing of axial compressor?

4. what type of vibration probs installed on compressor? which of the prob provide a trip to compressor?

5. how to disassemble and inspect mechanical floating seal in centrifugal compressor?

Sorry, lot of question. I'm still noob on this equipment. Thank in advance

Do you mean wet mech seal? Required for gas compressors. Air compressors dont need such a hifi seal. Laby should do. Ofcourse, these days, gry gas seals is the way to go.
OH tank is for lubricating the bearings during coast down, in case LO system fails. The height & volume of the tank are designed based on coast down time.
You better start off with a book on compressors. Heinz Bloch or Frostofer are good books to start with.

yes, they are all required for gas compressor, not air compressor
