Good day to everyone,


I am looking for first-hand experience data regarding water KO drums and coalescer elements used in Natural Gas dehydration service (liquefaction plant), located upstream of Mol Sieves.

1. What is the maximum expected efficiency one can get with state-of-the-art internals? I was quite surprised to calculate (field measurements) <98% overall water removal efficiency in the KO drum equipped with Schoepentoeter, Mesh, and the Vane Pack.

2. I've heard that two-stage filters (candle filters + vane pack) are not efficient in removing >99% of residual water from the gas stream, as claimed. Can anyone suggest something that works better?

3. Undersized gas outlet nozzle. Based on our calcs, the momentum of gas exiting the vessel is well above 4,500 Pa (more than 40% higher). What are the effects of undersized gas outlet nozzle? Can they promote upset/dislodging of vessel internals?

4. The feedback from LNG process licensor: vane pack type of devices do not perform well above ~50bar pressure. We operate the plant at ~75bar. Any experiences with these type of internals at high pressures?
