could somebody please tell me what all solvents and salts can be used for the exctractive distillation of ethanol water azeotropic system to achieve high purity ethanol (99.7 wt%) as well as high efficiency (max 0.5% ethanol wastage)?? also the steam consumption (in the reboiler probably) should be as low as possible..target is to bring down the steam usage to approx 0.4 kg steam/kg feed..please reply as soon as possible..thanx smile.gifsmile.gif

From the research of Zhou Rongqi

He used Ethylene Glycol as a solvent with a various salts such as NaCl, CaCl2, SrCl2, AlCl3, KNO3, Cu(NO3)2, Al(NO3)3, KCO2(CH3), and K2CO3.

They selected Ethylene Glycol with Potassium Acetate as the optimum one.
