Hi i am sharath,
i am working in a pvt company, i got a process data sheet for a condenser of shell and tube type, in which the fluid is entering at 1297 oC in channel side and it has refractory lining in channel side to compensate the material to use at 380 Oc Temp. and we got the design code the channel section side to be designed as PER ASME sec VIII Div I and shell side the Feed water is coming and it get converted to steam and it design code ASME Sec I.
My doubt is that whether ASME Sec I is applicable for this case in channel side and pressure is almost 10 barg and if possible tube sheet design will be in what ways. and tube sheet shown i PDS is just like it has inward flanged type with a knuckle radius not more than 16 mm and directly welded to shell side and channel section directly welded to shell side with an offset as a jacket type and ID of the shell side is smaller than channnel side to accomodate refractory lining,
Please help to design the system in mechanical point of view

Hi, Sharath
To reply your query,
The tubesheet description specified by you is called as Thin Flexible Tubesheet.
The same can be designed as stayed surface according to rules given in UG-47 of ASME Sec VIII Div 1.
Additionaly we need to carry out FEA analysis for the same.
And yes ASME Sec I is applicable only in steam / BFW srevice.
Hope this will help you.
