I had faced this problems many times and do know what is the best solution.

May be someone can share the practices.

Normally for inspections tanks are opened. The fluid in it needs to be emptied out. This is done by bringing the tank level to the lowest pumpable.

Then its drained or transferred through a contractor arrangement by either a vacuum truck or pump.

I am looking for a pump , say portable that is suitable for several fluid / can be connected to the drain of the tank and pump at say 5 bar to the other tank.

Probably it should have capablity to run dry and with very low suction head.

Fluids can be say EDC , MTBE , STYRENE , BENZENE etc.

Flow rate : 25 m3 / hr. Typically quantities can be 500 m3 and within 24 hours it can empty the tank.

What is the best type of pump for this application.

Hi Mazfar,
Cant give you a direct answer, but can tell you what I do in my company.
For storage tanks, I have low level switch installed on suction line of pump, which when activated is interlocked to shut off the pump. The remaining liquid can be drained into drums, and re-charged if necessary to tank, although to be honest, it's usually put to waste, as the volume is small.

For reactors, I use nitrogen pressure to empty the vessel.
