Hello,
I'm chemical engineer working in a petroleum refinery. We have a visbreaking(Thermal cracking) unit in our refinery. For a constant Furnace outlet temperature, we were trying to study the conversion(Gas + Naphtha) for various Vacuum residue feed (On processing different crudes in Crude distillation). We find that the ratio of feed viscosity to Vistar (Visbreaker bottoms) viscosity varies significantly.

We would like to know, what type of Vacuum residue feed is desirable for Visbreaker unit, to attain good conversion and higher ratio of viscosity between feed and bottoms?

Also, Does the visbreaker conversion will influence the viscosity ratio of feed and bottom?

There r couple of research papers available on the net which discuss about this particular problem....
