I have been charged by my division manager in finding a piping design program that has the ability to simulate and analyze a complete piping system. At this time I am attempting to model a contact cooling system. I so far have used the following program demos, Pipe-Flo Professional, Fathom, Epcon Engineer SiNet and several other programs. I was wondering if anyone had used this programs more extensively and could recommend a software to me.

Did you try SysEC from www.hyprentech.com. You can download the demo versionfrom www.hyprentech.com. It is like fathom with following advantages (copy and paste from their web site),
• Perform calculations for liquid (Newtonian), vapor (Non- isothermal) and two phase flows.
• Draw and solve long and more complex pipe networks.
• Give more working space to draw circuit, up to 25 pages with unlimited number of pipes.
• All pipe data can be added in one window.
• Calculate flows and account for density, viscosity and temperature changes across the equipments due to which minimum input data is required.
• Different results can be displayed on the screen and flows can be stopped from different end points across the circuit, which give more options to the user to analyze the circuit.
• Distinguish between three type of centrifugal pumps (Horizontal, vertical and submergible pump)
• Two types of Hard Tees are given,
1. To split flow to two streams
2. To add two streams
• No restrictions on number of start points and pumps in the circuit.
• Each start point and end point can be added as vessel nozzles
• For presentation the vessel can be replaced with different images given by the software (Suction drum, D-ethenizer , horizontal vessel etc)
• The input data can be added in any given units.
• The results are available in different sets of units (Calculation units, SI , English and Pressure in Gauge)
• The results can be copied to excel sheet.
• Create following detailed reports
1. Circuit notes
2. Circuit drawing
3. Input summary
4. Line report
5. Pressure profile
6. Two phase report
7. Pump report
• The equations used by software can easily be customized upon client request.

No, I have not and that one was not on my list to try. I will download the demo once I get back to the office on Thursday. Thank you for that advice.
